Grouped Products combine multiple independent simple products as one individual product. The “Grouped Product” type will allow you to unite various products and sell them as a set, as well as individually. The great advantage of Grouped Products is that you are able to present a variety of products, improve your customers’ experience and stimulate them to purchase more items.
In order to begin, please log in to your Magento Admin Dashboard and navigate through the left menu bar to Catalog > Products.
Please note that in order to create a Grouped Product you will have to separately create each of the simple products that will be assigned to it. If you have not done that yet, please go ahead and do it before we begin. You can find all the necessary instructions for adding a Simple Product in our guide available here.
Please click on the arrow next to the “Add Product” button in order to list all available product types and select “Grouped Product”.
You will need to fill all the details exactly the same way as for a Simple Product with two exceptions.
As you have probably noticed the “Price” field is missing. This is due to the fact that the price of the Grouped Product is always a sum of the simple products’ prices included in it.
The “Quantity” option is not editable because the value is determined from the simple products included in the Grouped Product.
When you are ready with the rest of the settings, please locate the “Grouped Product” section and click on “Add Products to Group”.
You will be presented with a new screen listing all your current products. You can use the “Filters” option which will allow you to filter the results by “ID”, “Name”, “Type”, “SKU”, price range and quantity range, and easily locate the products you are looking for. Once you select the desired products, please click on the “Add Selected Products” button.
The products you have selected will appear in the “Grouped Products” section.
Please, specify the “Default Quantity” value for each of the products and change the “Position” if needed.
Once you are ready, please click on the “Save” button and your new Grouped Product will be successfully created.
Please note that even though the products are presented as a group, each product will be purchased as a separate item and will be displayed individually in a separate line in your customers’ shopping carts.
